32 Series #005

Of all the chapters of my life that have led me to my current profession as a luthier, none have been as impactful and memorable as my time in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. During my four years as a member of Squadron 2, better known as Gator 2, the discipline, tenacity, and fine attention to detail was instilled in me that I would carry over into my craft. So like the tools that craft my instruments, Gator 2 put me to the grindstone, sharpening, honing, and polishing me until I could stand as a proud member of their ranks.

The second oldest outfit in the Corps, Gator 2 is known by its motto: “Easy Come, Easy Go”. It is a twofold meaning, the first being that not all who sign up to become Gators will have what it takes to make the cut. The second is a tribute to their work hard, play hard mentality.

The 32 Series #005 is an embodiment of that spirit of work hard, play hard. As a tribute to Gator 2’s beer drinking, cigar smoking, baseball playing alligator mascot, “Cecil”, the nitro finish color scheme is appropriately known as “Gatorburst”. Tones of green over amber give the 5A flame maple an impression of gator skin, complimented by gold hardware and white and gold low-profile Porter pickups. Wired in split-coil, #005’s tone follows the way of the gator, able to traverse from dark and swampy to clear and shining. A fitting tribute to the spirit of Gator 2, this one was made to work hard and play hard.
