Bryan, Texas — Clements Guitars, a boutique electric guitar builder based in Bryan, Texas, was represented on one of the biggest stages in country music during Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo last month, as Cody Johnson delivered a record-breaking performance at NRG Stadium.
Guitarist Jody Bartula took the stage playing a custom-built Clements guitar in front of a packed stadium crowd, contributing to a night that will be remembered as one of the standout moments in the rodeo’s history.
For Trey Clements, founder and luthier behind Clements Guitars, the moment carried significance far beyond the spotlight.
“Seeing one of my guitars reach a stage like that is something I don’t take lightly,” said Clements. “Those environments demand a lot from an instrument. It has to perform consistently through travel, changing conditions, and long runs of shows. Knowing it can hold up in that setting means everything.”
Performing at venues like NRG Stadium presents unique challenges for touring musicians and their instruments. From large-scale acoustics to fluctuating climates and rigorous performance schedules, guitars must deliver reliability and precision night after night.
Clements Guitars are built with that reality in mind. Each instrument is crafted to meet the demands of professional musicians, offering consistency, durability, and playability in even the most demanding environments.
While Clements was not in attendance for the performance, the presence of his work on stage represented a milestone for the brand.
“Once a guitar leaves the shop, it becomes part of the player’s story,” Clements added. “To know it played a role in a night like that is something I’ll carry with me.”
Clements Guitars continues to build custom instruments for artists seeking craftsmanship that can stand up to both the studio and the stage.
